Local Historian Elaine Shaw, and her team, offer various walking tours in and around the Plymouth area. In this tour you follow in the footsteps of Sir Francis Drake, The Pilgrim Fathers, Captain Cook and the many other colourful characters that once walked the very same cobbled streets of this historic area. Visit some of the many Elizabethan, Tudor, and Jacobean listed buildings and secret gardens, and delve into the hidden history of Plymouth. Find out how Plymouth went from a small Saxon fishing settlement to a large vibrant city whilst hearing some surprising stories of the real people of Plymouth. There’s also an opportunity to enjoy the outstanding views from Plymouth Hoe whilst learning about its historic past and iconic monuments – including Smeaton’s tower, Drake’s statue and the Citadel. This walking tour is approximately two hours long.
